Metcalfe Project

Project Image
  • Space: Bathroom

The Metcalfe Project was a partial renovation focused on modernising the upstairs level of a family home. Our clients were looking to refresh and elevate this area of the house, which included the master suite, three bedrooms, upstairs living area and main bathroom.

With young children and teenage years approaching, it was important that the spaces not only felt updated but functioned well for a growing family. A clean and timeless foundation was key, giving the family flexibility to decorate with personality and colour over time.

Dulux Gamelan Vanities

In the bathrooms, the client fell in love with Dulux Gamelan – a bold yet sophisticated green which we used on the custom vanities to bring a vibrant pop of colour into otherwise neutral, airy spaces.

Australian-Made Tapware

Throughout the bathrooms, the client selected brushed nickel tapware in a provincial style from Faucet Strommen – an Australian-made brand known for its quality and timeless aesthetic.

Newr

Craig, Phoebe and the team at NEWR were wonderful. Not only did they produce a beautiful finished product that we are very happy with, but during the works they maintained outstanding communication.

We were always kept up to date on what was happening, and all of the trades were pleasant and more than happy to answer any questions along the way.

We were worried about the stress of renovating, but Craig and the team’s online communication platform gave us full visibility of all costs and options so we could understand and make informed decisions. The daily progress photos were also fantastic, allowing us to understand what was happening along the way.

We would happily recommend NEWR for anyone planning a project on their home!

The upstairs design strikes a balance between classic and contemporary. While the palette remains mostly soft and neutral, statement elements like the Dulux Gamelan vanities and textured tile details introduce warmth and individuality.

The overall feel is light and spacious, with an understated elegance that’s perfectly suited to a busy family home. Durable materials and quality finishes ensure the spaces will grow with the family for years to come.

Subway Tile Feature Walls

We introduced subway tiles in both the main bathroom and ensuite, using different lay patterns in each to create subtle distinction and visual interest.
